Yesterday was a difficult day for me and my family. It was Christian’s 22nd birthday. The first of many birthdays we will celebrate without him. I really did not want to go to work today but I realized the one thing that might make things a little better would be to have some tangible proof that Christian wasn’t just another senseless avoidable casualty of poor judgement and actions of morally corrupt individuals. The “tangible proof” came in the form of taking three deserving young men shopping today. Seeing their faces and hearing their words of gratitude could never take the place of having Christian here with me but it did give me a reason to continue….. to continue this journey that will hopefully restore for some kids a sense of self esteem, a belief that someone cares enough to do something for them without expecting anything in return. A journey that will hopefully keep Christian living in more than just my memory.
You are doing a great thing. Christian would be proud of you Rae. He wiil always live in our hearts and never be forgotten
