Papa JoJo
Christian was only three weeks old when Mrs. Imogene Boswell started keeping him while Todd and I worked. Mrs. Imogene only kept teacher’s kids but she made an exception for me and kept Christian which meant he was usually the only child there after 3:30. It also meant he got to spend a lot of one on one time with Mrs. Imogene’s husband Mr. James Otis. Mr. James Otis was better known to Christian as Papa JoJo. And Christian LOVED Papa JoJo. Papa JoJo would take him riding on the 4-wheeler, let him follow behind him outside while he fixed things around the house. Christian would tell me sometimes not to come “too early” because Papa Jojo wouldn’t get home from work and he wouldn’t have time to ride the 4-wheeler. Mr. James Otis was a wonderful male role model for Christian and when it came time to start school Christian begged to be able to wait “one more year” so he could stay with Miss Imogene and Papa JoJo. As much as Christian loved Mrs. Imogene I know Papa JoJo held a special place in Christian’s heart. I know he would have been heartbroken over Mr. James Otis’ death. Mrs. Imogene and Mr. James Otis were always supportive and loving to our family so it is with a sad heart that we offer our sympathies to Mrs. Imogene and her family.
Mrs. Vicki
We would also like to offer our condolences to Paul, Lori, Kellan and Avery Smith after the death of Paul’s sister Vicki Furr. From what I have been told Vicki was quiet a character so she and Christian were a pair when they were together at family get togethers. Christian and Mrs. Vicki and the rest of the Smith family were up late one night playing cards and Vicki started calling Christian “Ozzy” because she thought he looked liked Donny Osmond. Donny Osmond was not in Christian’s music collection or generation needless to say so he had no idea who she was talking about but went along with her the whole time like he knew what she was talking about. Everyone thought it was hilarious. After that Vicki would ask about Christian but would refer to him as Ozzy. I am so sorry for Paul’s loss but I hope Mrs. Vicki and “Ozzy” are kicked back telling jokes, playing cards and watching the show down here. And I hope Papa JoJo is right by them keeping them in line.
