The day stands out clearly in my mind. Christian coming in from the store and telling me he had run into Bailey and Mrs. Marilynn at Randy’s. He was in between girlfriends at the time so I said “Bailey is so sweet. You should ask her out.” Christian looked up from whatever he was doing and gave me a look like I had lost my mind. He said “Will dates Bailey, Mom. They’ll be together forever.” I realized in that moment that even though Will and Christian went long periods of time without seeing each other, there was a friendship forged in the sand pits riding dirt bikes, school pranks, parties that I would never know about, school trips, and so much more that distance, time and even life hadn’t broken.
So even though Christian may not have been “book smart” as many would say…. he actually was pretty good at predicting the future….. I can see him now cocking that eyebrow up and with a smirk on his face saying….
“See Mom, I told you so….
Will and Bailey will be together forever.”
