We Have Been Gone Too Long!!

I have neglected the website for far too long but I can’t think of a better way to kick off our return then to announce it is time for Christian’s annual scholarship to be awarded!  So spread the word to all the 2023 graduates out there and let them know to apply for our $5000 scholarship.  This year we are trying something new and opening the scholarship up to any Senior in the State of Mississippi instead of limiting it […]

Scholarship Time!!

It is that time of year again!  Seniors are going to prom, making senior portraits, ordering invitations and attending Senior parties.  It is a busy and exciting time for all of you 12th graders.  There is also mixed emotions as you attend your last pep rally, your last high school prom, your last final exam.  If you are a high school athlete there are the last games and last team practices.  So there will be tears and there will be […]

I Gotcha ….

I have people ask me sometimes why we give shoes away instead of doing some other type of outreach.  I tell them that shoes for kids are not only a need but they are also a want.  There are so many things in life we want but we really don’t need.  Shoes sometimes can fulfill both areas.  I also feel Christian would so appreciate the “giving”.  He was a giver.  He rarely took from people but tended to try and […]

Time Well Spent

A few weeks ago I took a group of kids to the movie. As we were walking in one of the kids (who was 14 y/o) asked “What do you do in a movie?” I stopped and looked at him and said “Have you never been to a movie?” His reply ….. “I’ve never been to a mall.” Sitting in the movie watching him I realized how blessed my family is. Yes, we have felt tremendous loss, had our ups […]

Writing the Next Chapter

This year we had a very difficult time deciding an essay winner. There were so many well written papers that captured the spirit of Magnolia Son’s motto of Live Life Large but more importantly captured bits and pieces of Christian. Our 10 person panel reviewed each essay and a lot of time was spent going back and forth about which essay was “the best”. At the end of the day we couldn’t definitively say one was better than another. It […]

2018 ….. Another Chance to Get It Right

2017 gave us some good days as well as some bad but the constant “bright spot” throughout the year was Magnolia Son.  Whether it was the School Kick  Off shoe give away or the individual moments at the Crossings giving shoes to kids with limited resources or support we continued to always work to “do more”.  We made our goal of providing 150 pair of shoes to children in need.  It came down to the wire but on December 30th […]

We are excited to annouce the essay winner for the Christian Shane Andreacchio Memorial Scholarship for 2017!!!  We had a difficult time choosing a “winner” from the essays submitted.  There were several who came in a close second and we want to thank all the Seniors who submitted an essay for consideration. We wish we could award a scholarship to everyone but unfortunately we had to choose just one!! It is on days like today that I wonder what Christian […]

Memory Maker

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night last night for what we refer to as Christian’s wishing night.  There was laughter.  There was tears.  There were family and friends and children  excited, laughing…. joyful.  Just as they should be.  Just as Christian would have been.  Because anyone who knew Christian knows how important his birthday was to him.  What better excuse for a party, a get together, a “shindig” as he would have said.  So I deleted my […]

If Christian was here…….

Everyday in our home you will hear the words “If Christian was here……” at least once.  “If Christian was here the boat would be fixed” …. “If Christian was here that wouldn’t have ever happened” …. “There would have been some good stories to tell if Christian was here…”  One thing I know for certain, if Christian was here he would have gotten up at an unseemly hour for a Saturday morning, gone to Alexa’s room, given her a wet willy […]

A Full Heart & A Wanting Mind…

I received a card last week from Will and Bailey Dungan.  It was with full eyes and and a full heart that I placed it on the table in the kitchen…… the first thing I would see when I walked in at night and the last thing I would see as I left each morning. An unneeded reminder of friendship at its purest, a life lived with no limits and hearts at their fullest.  But a full heart does not stop the […]
