Meet You In My Dreams…..

The past 12 months have been a roller coaster of a year.  Looking back 12 months to February 26, 2014 I was probably walking out of the hospital about now debating on whether to call Christian and asking him what type of wake board he wanted. (I don’t know why I have always remembered that little detail or thought).  I was resorting to bribery with a new boat and wake board to get him back home.  Back home to where […]

You’ve Got a Friend…

I have always loved reading and have been envious of writers and speakers who put together words that make such an impact on so many people to the point that those words become quoted again and again. Since starting this site I have spent a vast amount of time reading poems and researching quotes to help explain an emotion or situation that could be described much more eloquently by using someone else’s words rather than my own.  In doing so, […]

Let’s Make A Deal…..

This week I have taken four of the kids shopping and I will have to say….. I got taken. 🙂  This little fast talking cute as a button 12 year old took me to the cleaners and was still trying to take me back for a return visit as we were walking out the door. The other kid with us was quick to pick out his pair of shoes and within 15 minutes had his shoes boxed up and ready […]

Psalm 34:18…

Today we received a donation in memory of Justin “JB” Blanks from Robin Long Harshbarger.  It saddened me that another young life had been taken.  The past 12 months have been very hard for too many families that have lost children at too young of an age.  As we near the one year “anniversary” of Christian’s death another family starts their own walk of “firsts”.  I would like to share with them the one sentence that has comforted me at […]

To Those Not Forgotten

Sometimes we get so caught up in our own “mission” that we forget we are only one in a group of many that have lost a child.  We forget that our daughter is not the only child who has lost a sibling at too young of an age.  We forget others in our quest to not forget our own.  Because every parent’s worst fear who has lost a child is that they will forget…. that they will not spend enough […]

Carpe Diem

There were many things Christian talked about having tattoed on his body just to give his mother some grey hair and something to fuss about, but one thing he never mentioned was “Carpe Diem” and that would have been some of the most appropriate words he could have permanently inked on his skin.  Christian woke up in the mornings looking for a way to wring some more life out of each day.  I would wake up some mornings and he […]

Paying it Forward

Due to the generosity of so many people we were able to take several more kids shopping for shoes.  It was their early Christmas presents.  One of the boys said “I had shoes on my wish list but just mark that off the list now Mrs. Rae.”  They were all very appreciative and I told each of them that their shopping trip was possible due to people supporting the mission of Magnolia Son. I do not think Magnolia Son supporters […]

Thankfully Grateful

I was not planning to write a post today but as friends and co-workers sent me texts and well wishes starting at 7 AM this morning and continuing throughout the day I realized maybe I did need to write a Thanksgiving post not necessarily for me or Christian but more to re-affirm to readers of Magnolia Son that we all have things to be thankful for….. yes, even me. Riding home from the hospital this afternoon I was thinking of […]

Messages for Christian

I have been slow to post video and pictures that were taken the night of Christian’s birthday.  It was a special night with a lot of laughter, good music and a few tears.  Stories were told and new memories made.  Our Spaghetti Thursday group grew by one as we welcomed Morgan Barber into the fold. 🙂  She did a great job of videoing the wishing lanterns and made Timmy sing Wagon Wheel about four times before she decided she had […]

Happy Birthday to the Original Magnolia Son

Twenty two years ago I was given a second chance at parenting.  Josh had survived the first go around and now it was Christian’s turn to give me a chance to make right all the hiccups and mistakes that a first time parent make with their firstborn.  His role as the second child in the Andreacchio family was to be quiet, laid back and pretty self sufficient as an infant.  I was just starting nursing school and working, Todd was […]
